Questions We Hear Before Every Purchase
It depends on the model — some use physical boundary wire buried just below the surface to define your lawn's edges, while newer GPS-based models map your yard digitally without any wire at all. If running wire through your yard feels like a big project, a GPS model is worth a serious look. Either way, setup is something you handle at home using what comes in the box and the manufacturer's guide.
Most modern robot mowers are designed to handle gentle to moderate slopes, and many models are rated for grades up to around 35–45 degrees. If your yard has steep inclines, check the slope specification for the model you're considering before purchasing — it's listed in the product details. A mower pushed past its rated slope range can struggle with traction and navigation, so matching the spec to your terrain really matters.
Most robot lawn mowers include a built-in rain sensor that automatically sends the unit back to its dock when moisture is detected, then resumes once conditions improve. This protects both the machine and your lawn, since cutting wet grass can tear rather than slice cleanly. You can usually override or adjust rain-sensor sensitivity through the companion app on app-enabled models.
We offer 30-Day Returns, so if the mower isn't the right fit for your space you have time to evaluate it and start a return through our Return Policy. We'd also encourage you to reach out to us before that window closes — sometimes a settings adjustment or a mapping reset is all it takes to get things working the way you'd expect. Details on how returns are processed live in our Return Policy page.
About Our Robot Lawn Mowers
A robot lawn mower is a self-guided outdoor machine designed to maintain your grass on a set schedule, returning to its charging dock on its own between sessions. Instead of dedicating hours each week to pushing or riding a traditional mower, you define the boundaries of your lawn once — either through physical perimeter wire or GPS mapping — and let the machine do the rest. These mowers work best for homeowners who want a consistently tidy lawn without the time commitment, and they're particularly well suited to people with busy schedules, larger properties, or anyone who'd simply rather spend their weekends doing something other than yard work. When choosing one, the key factors to think through are your lawn's total area, whether it has slopes or irregular shapes, how you prefer to set boundaries, whether app or voice control matters to you, and how much noise sensitivity exists in your neighborhood. Blade height, cutting width, battery runtime, and weather resistance are also worth comparing against your specific conditions.
